Ways to Assess Students without Using Clickers

Cost: SOITA or ITIP Ohio Members: $50, Non-Members: $100
Tired of grading paper and pencil assessments, running answer sheets through the Scantron, replacing batteries in the clickers, sharing the student response systems with your entire building? In this hands-on session, we’ll explore alternatives to standard student assessment systems, commonly called clickers, with Web-based software solutions, hand-held devices - including cell phones, and Google tools. Even oral assessments can be given as homework assignments with the use of cell and landline phones - we’ll show you how! Have your cell phone handy to text answers to the instructor. Bring along your laptops and other hand-held devices like iPod Touches, iPhones, and/or iPads and join the fun. We’ll have some for you to borrow and try as well. Learn all about these alternatives by doing it with yours and ours!
