The conference will offer two-hour sessions in our hands-on computer labs during each day of the conference.
Pre-registration will be required for each hands-on session and will require a ticket for admission. An additional fee will be charged for each hands-on session.
SOITA members may attend a hands-on workshop for $50 on Wednesday, December 8th and non-members may attend for $100 per person unless otherwise noted. This fee is in addition to the regular conference registration fee.

Classroom Uses for the Apple iPad
(includes an iPad)
Instructor: David Hayward, ITSCO

iPads....Meet, touch, and explore this innovative 21st century technology. Participants will learn how to use the iPad as a classroom productivity tool, explore Apps for eBooks, and discuss integration practices across the grade levels and subjects. The class will explore iTunes, including how to find and subscribe to podcasts, video podcasts and educational games and apps, as well as syncing these resources with the iPad. Participants will receive a 16GB Wi-Fi Apple iPad, a case, and a $25 gift card to iTunes.
Creating Free Websites with Google
Instructor: Amy Palermo, ITSCO

Google has created applications that help teachers and students organize information as well as communicate more efficiently and effectively. In this class, we will look at using Google Sites to create a classroom website as well as uses for Google Sites for students and classroom projects.

Google Loves Educators! Join us as we explore the free web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, and form application offered by Google. We will introduce you to the Google Docs fundamentals: setup an account, create and edit content, share your files for collaboration and much more.

Come explore the interactive features of the Smart Board Notebook software! The Notebook software takes advantage of all the possibilities of the interactive touch sensitive surface. In this session, we'll examine some fun tricks and tips using the Toolbar, as well as great resources offered in the Gallery. Classroom applications, for K-12, will be covered. |
