This fall SOITA is offering 14 brand new TeleTechs featuring topics covering the latest and greatest in educational technology and resources for your classroom. Each TeleTech is presented live two times: 2:30 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.

edcamp Dub C - A FREE "Unconference" is October 4th!

SOITA, along with the Region 14 State Support Team, Wilmington College, CET, and SWOCA is co-organizing edcamp DubC, an unconference on Saturday, October 4, 2014. The edcamp will be held on the campus of Wilmington College and in the edcamp style, the agenda and discussion will be decided by the attendees. All educators, including administrators, veteran educators, and pre-service teachers are encouraged to attend. 


Registration is free, but to reserve your spot, it is recommended you register for a free ticket prior to the date.

The Intro to Google Drive class that was originally scheduled for September 26th has been rescheduled to Friday, October 10th, 2014. If your school is going Google, you won't want to miss this workshop!

Using Google Drive is the most efficient way to not only create and access files from anywhere, but also collaborate and share with others.  Using the apps available in Google Drive, you can create a document, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, or form.  Learn the basics of using this valuable tool and how it can help you and your students.

Interested in Our Content for Students Programs, but Don't Have the Equipment?

SOITA is currently looking for schools/teachers to help us pilot a new delivery method for our Video Conferencing Programs! No video conferencing equipment necessary. All you need is a webcam, microphone, and a screen to view the program on.

During this pilot we are featuring two of our popular Content for Students programs, Kids Rock! and Place Value and Number Sense:
Kids Rock! A Look at Rocks

Grade Level:  3-4
Subject Area:  Science
Description:  Want to learn some fun facts about rocks?  In this session students will make observations about different types of rocks, and learn how they are formed.  We’ll also look at how different rocks are used.
 Place Value and Number Sense

Grade Level:  2-3
Subject Area:  Mathematics
Join us for a fun way to learn and review place value concepts.  Students will explore whole numbers, review place values up to the ten thousands, and work with base-10 blocks.

While you may have heard of Google's Chrome browser, have you heard about Chrome OS?  Chrome OS is Google's browser-based operating system.  The idea is simple: If we spend ninety percent of our time on the web, why not just go straight to the web and skip all the stuff in-between?  The web you say, but will I ever get anything done?  Easy.  The Chrome Web Store provides thousands of "web apps";  applications that run in your browser.  From photo editing to creating great looking presentations, its all here and its all free!  During this class participants will receive a Google Chromebook, learn about the Chrome OS operating system, browse the Chrome Web Store for useful applications and extensions, and discover how Google and Chrome OS can save you and your school a tremendous amount of time and money.
