Invent to Learn with Makey Makey!

The Makey Makey Invention Literacy Workshop for Educators is a fun hands-on learning experience where you'll learn how to teach Invention Literacy, Making, and Design Thinking using the award winning Makey Makey invention kit. We'll explore how to teach circuits and conductivity using Makey Makeys and then put our skills to use designing your own inventions! Participants learn best practices and gain access to a multimedia training website that can be used later when working with your students or training others.

Participants will receive a FREE Makey Makey Invention Kit!

Date: December 12, 2018

Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Session Length: 6 Hours

Location: SOITA - 1205 E. Fifth St., Dayton, OH 



This workshop is being offered at a discounted price of $125 for both SOITA Members and Non-SOITA Members.

ReDesign Your Classroom Makerspace with Cricut!

The Cricut Explore Air 2 makes designing and creating simple! With the Cricut Design Space you no longer even need extra cartridges! With this tool the creative possibilities are endless. Registration includes a Cricut Explore Air 2 and extra materials. Already have a Cricut but want to learn how to utilize it in your classroom makerspace? Bring it along and only pay for the workshop itself!

OETC 2019: Call for Playground Proposals Now Open!

The OETC Team is seeking individuals who would like to facilitate a two-hour playground session on What’s New with Google? A LOT!; Makerspace Big & Small; Tech Tools for the Mindful, Learning Soul; or Coding for All Ages. 

As a facilitator, you will provide a hands-on activity or short, informal talk about an aspect of your chosen topic. You may feature a resource, lesson, software, or technology, or any combination thereof. Conference attendees will typically spend five to 10 minutes at each table to gather information, ideas, and resources. Activities should be planned accordingly.

Join us as we explore some of the latest tools and technologies to keep your gifted learners challenged and engaged!  These classes provide educators with professional development hours that are approved for gifted PD requirements.

$martPath Financial Literacy Training for Grades 1-6 Educators

In partnership with the University of Cincinnati's Economics Center and sponsorship from State Farm, SOITA is offering a 60-minute $martPath Training Session!  Participants will be given a $50 Amazon gift card for attending the workshop and an additional $50 Amazon gift card for implementing the curriculum in their classroom. A certificate of attendance will be made available upon request.
